We’re excited to introduce Puma and Michelle, the cofounders of Project Play, a vibrant indoor activity center in Langley, BC, designed for children aged 0-8. Focused on learning through play, Project Play features engaging zones like a water table, climbing wall, and pretend play areas, all aimed at developing sensory and motor skills. They also offer classes in art, music, and yoga, perfect for creative growth.
We recently collaborated with Project Play for our Halloween Pajama Party and Holiday Pajama Party, where families had a blast in our bamboo PJs and family matching PJs. The events were a huge hit, and you can see the fun moments on our blog post here.
What's your story:
Puma & Michelle: Two moms, driven a bit loopy by the craziness of Covid, found themselves in a new neighbourhood. Eager to connect with other parents dealing with kids but nervous to invite each other over during the pandemic, we did what any slightly crazy duo would do – we took the plunge and had playdates anyway! So, we ping-ponged back and forth between our houses, transforming our living rooms into different play spaces for our kids. What began as a cautious encounter quickly morphed into a ‘family-like’ arrangement where we found ourselves watching each other’s kids whenever one of us needed a sanity-saving break. During our coffee chats and kid-chasing escapades, we dwelled on the lack of places to take our little ones. The idea of opening our own kid-friendly space was often discussed and laughed about. But you know what they say – ‘Crazy ideas sometimes lead to amazing adventures.’ And that’s how our dream of creating a great play centre came true.
What Inspired the Sunday Littles and Project Play Holiday PJ Collaboration:
Puma & Michelle: We love supporting local moms in business because we understand how challenging it is to juggle raising kids, managing a household, and pursuing a passion project or running a company. Sunday Littles and Project Play share a heartfelt commitment to creating joyful, family-centered experiences, making this collaboration an easy choice for us—plus, the PJs are just too cute to resist!
If this collaboration was a superhero, what superhero would it be?
Puma & Michelle: If this collaboration were a superhero, it would undoubtedly be Wonder Woman. Just like her, it embodies strength, resilience, and a commitment to bringing people together.
If you weren't in your career path, how would you be spending your time? Puma & Michelle: If we weren’t on this career path, we’d likely be focused on raising our kids and probably be stay-at-home moms to have the flexibility for school pick-ups and drop-offs. If anything, we might have pursued an e-commerce business that allowed us to balance both family life and a creative passion—something that would let us be present for our kids while still building something meaningful.
What's your go to snack or treat?
Puma & Michelle: Our go-to snack is definitely nuts—they were our lifeline when we first opened Project Play! Quick, convenient, and full of energy, they kept us going through those early, busy days.
On your day off, what does a regular day look like for you?
Puma & Michelle: We honestly never really have a full day off because we’re always connected to our staff through our phones—it feels like there’s always something going on! Being in our first year of business, this is something we expected. However, when we’re not at Project Play, we’re usually with our kids, either planning a fun activity or enjoying a slow, relaxed day at home.
What is your favourite thing to do with your kids?
Puma & Michelle: Our favorite thing to do with our kids is travel and introduce them to new experiences. We love exploring new places and watching their eyes light up as they discover the world around them.
What's the best piece of advice you've been given (mom-related & career related)?
Puma & Michelle: The best piece of advice we’ve been given is to embrace the chaos and remember that it’s okay not to have everything perfectly planned. This has definitely proven true because juggling Project Play and kids has been chaotic at times, but it’s also the best thing we’ve ever done in our lives!
